Intellectual developmental disorders (IDDs) encompass a group of conditions with onset in childhood that are characterized by substantial limitations in both intellectual functioning (learning, reasoning, and problem solving) and adaptive behavior (the collection of conceptual, social, and practical skills to carry out age-appropriate daily life activities).1
