Braillon and Bewley on our editorial,1 and we agree that we should continue to examine the roles and actions by all the various stakeholders to reduce the risk of prenatal exposure to maternal medications. Patients play a unique and necessary role in this process, which cannot be overstated. Without volunteers contributing to pregnancy registries and other intensive longitudinal cohort studies, we as an academic community would not have any of the data cited in our editorial or in the primary article by Tomson et al.,2 nor would we have any tools to practice evidence-based medicine.
