We read with great interest the study by Wirth et al.1 The authors evaluate nigrostriatal dopaminergic denervation (NSDD) progression in 85 patients with sporadic late-onset cerebellar ataxia (SLOCA) using the [1231]-FP-CIT-SPECT, associated with SARA, UPDRS-III, and SDFS scores, to differentiate cerebellar multiple system atrophy (MSA-C) from idiopathic late-onset cerebellar ataxia (ILOCA). Their results indicate that 33 patients had probable MSA-C, 8 patients had possible MSA-C, and 44 patients had ILOCA.1
