Radical gastrectomy (RG) of gastric cancer (GC) is a complicated surgical procedure associated with high morbidity, mortality, and recurrence rates. Therefore, the development of sensitive preoperative predictive markers is warranted. Previous studies have confirmed that skeletal muscle measures are closely related to shortand long-term outcomes for tumor patients. Because accurate evaluation of muscle strength and function is difficult, most studies focus only on skeletal muscle mass. This study aimed to explore the hypothesis that combining the quantity and quality of skeletal muscle can predict the clinical outcome of gastric cancer more accurately.
