Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare disease with an increasing incidence, but without a staging system. In the development of a staging system, prognostic factors associated with overall survival include age at diagnosis, sex, nodal status, and primary tumor; however, the significance of these individual factors has been debated in prior studies, with a lack of consensus for inclusion in a staging system. The aim of our study was to determine whether the incidence continues to increase, and evaluate the prognostic factors associated with cancer-specific survival in patients with parathyroid carcinoma.
