Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) tumors of the appendix are rare mucinous neoplasms staged according to the system for adenocarcinomas (AJCC, 8th edition) with limited data surrounding optimal treatment regimens. The usual prognostic tools of TNM stage or Ki-67 have not proven as useful in the setting of appendiceal GCC. However, the histologic classification system first introduced by Tang et al. has correlated with survival outcomes, dividing cases into group A (typical GCC), group B (adenocarcinoma ex GCC, signet ring cell type), and group C (adenocarcinoma ex GCC, poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma type). In our study, we presented our populationbased experience with appendiceal GCC over 30 years, examining prognostic factors and describing management and survival outcomes of patients presenting with Stage I– IV disease.
