This study was the first to formally evaluate the conversion of low-grade appendiceal neoplasm to high-grade neoplasms following repeat cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRSHIPEC). The focus of the analysis is not a novel finding; conversion from low-grade to high-grade disease is a wellknown phenomenon for patients undergoing repeat CRSHIPEC. However, what is unknown is how often conversion occurs, how disease progression impacts clinical outcomes, and whether conversion presents a contraindication to repeat CRS-HIPEC. Furthermore, this study explored what could be potential risk factors for conversion to high-grade disease.
