Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)-modified bacterial cellulose (BC)/silica composite aerogel was prepared by a facile sol-gel process followed by freeze-drying. The obtained composite aerogel showed excellent hydrophobicity and flexibility, making it a promising oil sorbent for oil/water separation.
