WO3 nanosheets were fabricated and the surface of nanosheets was catalytically modified by Pt using an electrostatic adsorption method. The effects of Pt modification on structures and morphologies of WO3 nanosheets were investigated. WO3 gas sensors fabricated from the nanosheets were prepared and the sensing properties of acetone were characterized. Sensing mechanism and the role of Pt on the sensing performance were analyzed according to the oxygen adsorption and TPR results. It is found that Pt-loading has no influence on the morphology, nevertheless, greatly increases the sensor resistance and sensor response. In addition, the resistive response to oxygen for Pt-loaded WO3 was obviously different from the neat one, with or without acetone.
