Based on the heating and softening of a laser as well as the lubrication and cooling effect of ultrasonic atomized droplets, a new processing method of Ti6Al4V alloy turning, assisted by laser heating and ultrasonic atomization, has been proposed. A series of comparison experiments were conducted by dry machining, laser-assisted machining (LAM), ultrasonic atomization-assisted machining (UAAM), and laser heating and ultrasonic atomization-assisted machining (LAM-UAAM). The results show that, while fully retaining the advantages of laser-assisted machining, LAM-UAAM gives full play to the advantages of ultrasonic atomization cooling and overcomes the adverse thermal effects on the quality of cutting tools and surface processing. While reducing tool wear, processing quality has been significantly improved.
