PURPOSE: Our hospital uses an Interactive Patient Care (IPC) tool to provide entertainment, education, and communication through the patient's television. In 2014, we implemented a pain management interface (PMI) connecting the IPC, Electronic Health Record (EHR), nurse's phone, and pharmacy inventory management system. This interface allows for the timed reassessment of pain through the patient's television by triggering a pop-up question about pain level at a pre-defined time after medication is administered.
