Purpose: Motor vehicle crashes (MVCs) are a leading cause of abdominal injury in children, accounting for 32% of all intraabdominal injuries (IAIs) and 45% of IAIs undergoing medical or surgical intervention. A need exists to determine what factors identify children with MVC-related IAIs, particularly those undergoing acute intervention.
