PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE: Acid suppressing medications (proton pump inhibitors [PPI] and histamine-2 receptor antagonists [H2RA]) are used extensively in hospitalized term and preterm neonates despite limited efficacy data and increasing evidence for potential harm in this vulnerable population.
