BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs across the country recommend inpatient and outpatient hearing screens prior to 1 month of age. The goal of early hearing loss detection and subsequent intervention is to maximize childhood communication outcomes.
