Background: Evidence-based maternity care practices play a significant role in improving short- and long-term breastfeeding outcomes. In 2007, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began monitoring breastfeeding-related maternity care practices with the Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (mPINC) survey to determine trends in these practices and policies in the United States (U.S.).
