PURPOSE Debriefing is a facilitated discussion of actions and thought processes used to encourage reflection and assimilation of learning after stressful events. Debriefing after resuscitations can be used to facilitate learning, to improve future performance, and to reduce the stress response. Post-resuscitation debriefing (PRD) has the potential to attenuate factors leading to burnout by providing an opportunity for emotional processing, review of performance, and improvement of morale.
