Introduction 25% of Latin America’s diverse population of 650M people is under the age of 16. Perioperative child mortality ranges from 0.4-15.9/10,000 anesthetics, with higher rates among less developed countries (Bolivia and Honduras). In contrast, U.S. perioperative child mortality is 6.8/10,000. The SAFE Paediatric Anesthesia Course (SAFE Paeds), developed by Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland and the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), has been successfully administered to anesthesia providers in Africa and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
