Introduction: More commonly found in pediatrics, patent ductus arteriosus is rarely diagnosed in adulthood since most cases are identified and treated early in life. Often times, the patent ductus is small and not clinically significant. As such, it is unusual to find a symptomatic PDA in an adult and these patients are at increased risk for bacterial endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, and death.
