Background: Many physicians and medical students overlook their patients’ oral health. Physicians may fail to examine and treat patients’ oral health because they believe it is the dentist’s realm, do not think it is relevant to patients’ overall health, or lack adequate knowledge and training. Despite its importance, there are limited opportunities in medical school curricula to learn about patients’ oral health.
