EJD, vol. 30, n◦ 2, March-April 2020 [1, 2]. While the main indication for this flap is the repair of defects of the alar sulcus and perialar region, this technique should not be used for large defects of this region, as poor aesthetic and functional outcomes may occur [1, 3]. The main complication is flap necrosis, which can be prevented by performing correct dissection, achieving an appropriate length-to-width ratio of the flap and by suturing superficially to avoid blood supply compromise [1, 2]. In conclusion, the SIPF is a useful and reproducible technique for nasal ala and perinasal defects, which can result in excellent aesthetic and functional outcomes.
