The article compares the variants of the national duma “About Khmelnytsky’s Moldavian Campaign” with historical facts and versions, drawing attention to the simila35 Славянский мир в условиях современных вызовов rity of certain facts. This suggests that some historical events were transferred to the folklore composition to emphasise the specificity of Ukrainian and Moldavian national world with composition means. Comparing the plot lines of three duma versions with historiographical data, the author determines common and different features in how the motive of Hetamn B. Hmelnytsky’s campaign to the Moldovan lands is represented to characterise the personality of the Ukrainian hetman and the ruler of the Moldavian principality and to compare them with their folklore images in the national duma.
