Mamon sand-kaolinic stratum (SKS) of the upper Devonian age, developed in the southern part of the Voronezh anteclise, was usually considered as a source for the production of kaolin. However, the sandy part of the section prevails over its clayey component. Often in the sands there is a clayey impurity that is easily recovered by hydroclassification. The carried out researches have shown, that in sandy adjournment of the mamonian stratum is concentrated glass, forming, building raw materials. In the presence of a clayey admixture, it is possible to obtain enriched kaolin from it. The estimated total inventories in the C1+C2 category for sands are more than 20 million tons, for kaolins – more than 11 million tons. Including 1,5 million tons is accounted for enriched kaolin from the sands. With a shallow occurrence of the strata, it can be developed by the open method, in cases of high stripping capacity – by a
