This article explores the challenges and opportunities associated with engaging in solidarity for causes that individuals believe in, as well as strategies for effectively navigating them. Solidarity encompasses individuals who actively support various causes, including ideas/ideologies, people, and contexts, in order to combat forms of marginalisation. However, there may be dissenting voices that object to this support and oppose it. This raises questions about the factors individuals consider when participating in solidarity, the different ways in which solidarity is demonstrated, and the effectiveness of these modes of solidarity in addressing the issues they aim to tackle. This article examines the diverse manifestations of solidarity and the complexities that arise in the context of global precarity, drawing examples from movements such as racial, political, economic and indigenous movements across the globe. The argument put forth is that, despite the challenges and potential risks associated with engaging in solidarity, this principle still offers a valuable framework for addressing some of the most complex issues in our world.
