Pancreatic carcinoma has ranked as one of the most lethal diseases and its 5-year overall survival (OS) is less than 8%, which will become the second most common cause in the USA of cancer-related deaths by the year (1-3). Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is the widely used operation in approximately 75% of patients with pancreatic head carcinoma (PHC). Current treatment strategies need to be highlighted and improved due to its highly aggressive nature with poor prognosis.
