ABSTRACT The ultimate objective of the correlation research between the agglomeration effect of the marine industry and the regional economy is to achieve the scientific and sustainable development of the marine economy and the regional economy. For this, the paper analyses the interactive development of coastal regional economy and marine industry agglomeration effect, and evaluates the mutual relationship between regional economy and industrial agglomeration in terms of quality and quantity transformation. Then, based on principal component analysis (PCA) and the theoretical basis of marine industry cluster and regional economy development, it takes Fujian Province as the empirical research object to form a comprehensive evaluation system for the development of Fujian's marine economy by reducing the main components of the marine economic impact indicators, and to evaluate the development of marine economy in Fujian Province from 2003 to 2017. Finally, through analysis for these evaluation results of marine economic development, the guiding strategy of the coordinated development between marine industry agglomeration and regional economy was put forward.
