Development of automobile industry requires the application of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS), among which twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel is of great importance due to its great mechanical properties.1–3) Aside from the addition of manganese, TWIP steel contains a high amount of aluminium to reduce the weight of automobile and stabilize the deformation twinning in austenite.4) However, a high amount of aluminium in liquid steel affects the in-mold performances of mold fluxes due to the chemical reaction between [Al] and SiO2 in the CaO–SiO2-based mold fluxes:5–8)
