Methods This study complies with the Declaration of Helsinki and written informed consent was obtained by all participants. We enrolled (January 2013–January 2018) 111 consecutive adult patients admitted to hospital for acute heart failure and newly diagnosed with endomyocardial biopsy (EMB)-proven ICM. Among patients with systolic dysfunction [left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) < 50%], those undergoing inhospital CR (CRþ) were compared to controls (CR ) after 1:1 matching by age, sex, LVEF, and baseline inhospital treatment, including renin angiotensin aldosterone inhibitors (ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor/neprilysin inhibitors), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT-D), and immunosuppression for virus-negative myocarditis.
