Introduction Leadless endocardial pacemakers (LPMKs) are innovative and a valid option in the case of patients with no proper availability of central venous access and/or high risk of infectious events (e.g. patients with immunodepression syndromes, severe diabetes, or frailty). They can be the solution for left ventricle assist device (LVAD) recipients requiring pacemaker therapy, but some concerns remain on the potential interaction between the two devices. Some cases of adverse electromagnetic interference (EMI) between LVADs and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) have been reported in terms of failure to establish telemetry or inappropriate shock delivery; on the other hand, only a few studies have described the interaction between LVADs and LPMKs and both of these focus on HeartMate II and HeartMate III LVADs (Abbott; Thoratec Inc., Pleasanton, California, USA), highlighting the importance of gathering much more data on this specific issue among all the different manufacturers and models of LVADs.
