Abstract:This article highlights 12 key changes and disruptions that might shape prairie-based theatre by 2040. Using strategic foresight methodology, each change is described, including evidence of the change today, and what it could mean for prairie-based theatre in the future. The changes identified are wide-ranging - including social, technological, environmental, economic and political disruptions. Understanding changes and disruptions can be useful in imagining alternative possible future scenarios, helping gain deeper insight into the preferred futures of prairie-based theatre, and the changes needed to get there.
