A comparative preliminary study on explosion characteristics of propanol/air mixtures was experimentally performed. The maximum explosion pressure, pmax, deflagration index, KG, lower explosion limit, LEL, upper explosion limit, UEL are determined in two spherical vessels (volume: 1.00 m3 and 0.020 m3) for various 1-propanol/air mixtures (Φ = 0.57 - 1.33) at ambient initial pressure (100 kPa) and two initial temperatures (50 °C and 150 °C).
