The paper presents a techno-economic study of a biogas plant in biorefinery concept with reduced CO2 production. Such a biorefinery proposal treating lignocellulosic waste produces a portfolio of products with higher added value and a reduced amount of produced CO2 by 47 vol. % for model materials in the comparison with a conventional biogas plant. Economic analysis also shows an attractiveness of the technology with conventional payback period without any subsidies that is strongly dependent on product demand and waste politics.
