Breast density, which refers to the amount of radiopaque fibroglandular tissue (FGT) relative to radiolucent fatty tissue on mammography, is established as an imaging biomarker of breast cancer risk and is included in risk assessment models [1,2]. In dense breasts, the performance and resulting benefits of screening mammography are reduced, and additional screening tests, such as ultrasound (US) or MRI, are often recommended, along with the Glandular Tissue Component on Breast Ultrasound in Dense Breasts: A New Imaging Biomarker for Breast Cancer Risk
