The Institute of Medicine's Future of Nursing report recommends an increasingly higher educated RN workforce. Community colleges play a critical role in educating entry-level nurses to meet the needs of underserved regions in the United States. The National Education Progression in Nursing is introduced as a champion for academic progression, and the dual admission/concurrent enrollment model is highlighted.
