Isabel I established a special bond with the monasteries of the Order of Saint Clare that had to do with her condition as Queen of Castile in her own right. Her political interest and the underlying concept of queenship are analyzed here. We will study her foundations of San Antonio of Segovia and Santa Isabel of Granada, the only female monasteries that she mentioned in her testament, as well as her activity of support to other establishments of the Order and the female relational networks configured around them.
