Health technologies that are transforming nursing practice include less invasive and more accurate medical devices that improve diagnoses and treatment, four-dimensional printing, genetics and genomics, robotics, biometrics, and cognitive technologies (ie, products of the field of artificial intelligence).2,3 As we move forward in the digital age, keeping up with new technologies can be a daunting task. This column of Technology Today provides an overview of a few health technological innovations that are advancing the nursing profession. The innovations were chosen based on their implications for nursing and their potential for broad use. These overviews are not endorsements; instead, they should encourage nurses to be receptive of new solutions to today’s challenges and opportunities for advancing nursing practice.
