like the first, is peppered with realistic scenarios in which feedback is offered and received. There are both positive and negative examples, and each clearly illustrates both the challenges in being a feedback recipient and the strategies that lead to an effective exchange. The examples cover both personal relationships and professional performance evaluations. Thanks for the Feedback resonates with me in an unexpected way because of its applicability to communication in general, not just feedback. Strategies for managing our feedback triggers also can improve our understanding of other people’s perspectives and our ability to truly connect with other people in our conversations. If we listen to what people tell us and seek to clarify their interests while asserting our own views, we can find opportunities for personal and professional growth. In nursing school nurses learn about the importance of active listening and skilled communication. Responding to feedback requires a special brand of communication that can be particularly challenging, and at the same time incredibly rewarding.
