In last one decade there have been further advancements in understanding various aspects of psychiatric disorders. Hence, it was thought that time has come to acknowledge the advances in Psychiatry to be translated into the practice of Psychiatry in India. With this thinking, I must place on record that during Hyderabad ANCIPS on January 11th, 2015, the Executive Council, under the leadership of Dr. Vidhyadhar Watve decided to start the process of revision of existing Clinical Practice Guidelines. As part of the revision, first an online survey was conducted to understand how the earlier versions of the guidelines were used and what are the expectations of the membership from the revised guidelines. Based on the findings of this survey, the lead authors were advised to formulate guidelines, which would be evidence based and at the same time more users friendly.
