Glaucoma drainage devices (GDDs) are associated with tube and plate‐related complications both in the early and late postoperative periods. Appropriate case selection and meticulous surgery play a key role in preventing serious intra‐ and postoperative complications in eyes with GDD. One such step to prevent tube‐related complication is to cover the entire length of the subconjunctival tube of the implant with donor patch graft or by placing the tube in a long scleral tunnel to prevent conjunctival erosion and tube exposure. Various types of patch grafts are used like donor sclera, donor cornea, corneoscleral rim, pericardial, or dural patch grafts to cover the outflow tube.
