The cornea is a vital organ, as it helps your eyes from germs, dust, and other foreign particles. The cornea also permits light to enter your eyes.[1] The human donor eye is the most successful organ transplantation in the human body as the cornea is devoid of vasculature and minimizes the risk of graft rejection.[2] Eye banks are the institutions responsible for collecting, processing, and storing donor corneas and distributing them to trained corneal graft surgeons.[3]
