Operating microscopes are integrally linked to the evolution of microsurgery in ophthalmology. The first binocular surgical microscope used by Perritt in 1945 has given way to sophisticated technological contraptions with integrated aberrometry, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and overlays to guide the surgical steps.[1] Three-dimensional (3D) visualization with heads up display is the latest entrant in this ever-evolving field and may herald a paradigm shift in the way we operate.[2-4]
