“Ben Cao Gang Mu (Compendium of Materia Medica)” is the great medical book in the world; Li Shizhen's pharmaceutical thought is reflected in it. Li Shizhen make a detailed explanation on the trait identification, processing methods, efficacy and clinical application of different herbs, which lay a solid foundation for the current Chinese drugs dispensing. Astragalus is a commonly used traditional Chinese herb, Li Shizhen attaches great importance to the historical origins, trait identification technology and clinical decoction technology of it. Chinese medicine master Jin Shiyuan stressed that Chinese drugs dispensing is the key link to ensure the efficacy of prescription, and he divided it into trait identification technology, clinical processing technology, prescription examination technology, prescription dispensing technology, distribution medicine technology, clinical decoction technology, purchasing management technology, storage and maintenance technology of eight parts. And Professor Jin Shiyuan inherits Li Shizhen’s pharmaceutical thought by his own knowledge structure of “proficient in medicine and drugs”, he makes a detailed introduction on the trait identification technology, clinical processing technology and storage and maintenance technology of Astragalus, which improve and develop the clinical dispensing technology of Astragalus and conducive to promoting the standardized development of Chinese drugs dispensing.
