In this study, the carbon dots/nanodiamonds (CDs/NDs) heterojunction is synthesized through microwave heating treatment with the mixed solution of citric acid, urea and NDs as precursor. The CDs/NDs show superior photocatalytic efficiency (98.1% MB degradation) and a higher rate constant (17.9 × 10–3 min–1). The high photocatalytic performance of CDs/NDs materials is attributed to the enhanced separation of photogenerated carriers. This study indicates that the unique CDs/ NDs heterojunction is the potential for the rapid and efficient treatment of organic pollutants in wastewater.
