espanolLos avances tecnologicos y las transformaciones sociales provocan la aparicion de nuevas unidades lexicas tanto especializadas como de lengua general, las que se difunden principalmente a traves de la prensa. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en investigar como las areas de especialidad contribuyen a enriquecer el lexico en espanol. Para ello, se analizaron neologismos de tres secciones del diario El Pais detectados entre 2003 y 2013, se identificaron neologismos terminologicos y no terminologicos, se determinaron las areas tematicas representadas, se compararon los procesos de formacion de estas unidades neologicas y se analizaron su inclusion en el DLE. Los resultados mostraron una difusion moderada de la terminologia a traves de la prensa, y diferencias entre ambos tipos de neologismos en cuanto a los procesos de formacion y su funcion en el discurso. Tambien se constato una contribucion importante de neologismos terminologicos al diccionario, lo que confirma el papel de la prensa en la desterminologizacion y difusion de estas unidades. EnglishSocial transformations and technological advances lead to the coining of new words, both in general and specialized languages, which are often disseminated to the general audience via the written press. This study is aimed at analyzing how subject-specific areas contribute to the enrichment of the Spanish lexicon. For that purpose, the neologisms of three sections of the Spanish newspaper El Pais between 2003 and 2013 were analyzed. The occurrence of terminological and non-terminological neologisms from different subject-fields was compared, and the inclusion of these lexical units in the Diccionario de la Lengua Espanola (RAE) was examined. Results showed a moderate dissemination of terminology through the press, differences between both types of neologisms with regard to the formation processes and their function in discourse. Finally, an important contribution of terminological neologisms to the dictionary was observed, therefore confirming the role of the press in the determinologization and dissemination of these units.
