Cardiac occluders are increasingly employed beyond their approved indications to address intricate or recurrent esophageal fistulas. 1 A 69-year-old woman with systemic scleroderma underwent a thoracotomy and diverticulectomy for a symptomatic midesophageal diverticulum.
