Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and its complications affect people all around the world, especially in developing countries. Rheumatic mitral valve stenosis (MVS) is a well described complication of RHD and may involve women of childbearing age as well as other individuals. Based on latest World Health Organization guidelines, pregnancy is an absolute contraindication in women with severe MVS and in case of pregnancy, termination should be advised. 1
