www.jogh.org • doi: 10.7189/jogh.10.010359 1 June 2020 • Vol. 10 No. 1 • 010359 This perspective piece describes how policymakers should consider inequalities as potential longterm consequences of the current coronavirus epidemic. In addition to health and economic costs, governments and the international community should consider the repercussions of their mitigation and suppression measures, as they might deepen inequalities between the developing and developed world, poor and rich within societies, women and men, and vulnerable populations. This is a call to action for more coordinated efforts at the international level that does not turn a blind eye on this aspect of the pandemic.
