An equation for the curve described by a cord (thin rope) rotating around a straight line between its ends is obtained under the assumption that no external force such as gravity is exerted, and that the displacement of each portion of the cord is sufficiently small. It is clarified that there exist rotational stationary waves of multiple modes such as the first mode with one loop, etc. in this system.
