Abstract: The reaction of 2-aryl-4,4-diphenyl-3,4-dihydroquinazoline with methyl iodide in acetone in the presence of potassium hydroxide at 40°C leads to the formation of the corresponding 1-methyl-4,4-diphenyl-1,4-dihydroquinazolines and 1,3-dimethyl-4,4-diphenyl-1,4-dihydroquinazolin-3-ium iodides.
