Abstract: 8‐Nitro‐4H‐benzo[e][1,3]thiazinones (BTZs) are potent in vitro antimycobacterial agents. New chemical transformations, viz. dearomatization and decarbonylation, of two BTZs and their influence on the compounds’ antimycobacterial properties are described.
