Abstract: We report the synthesis of cationic 2,6-bisiminopyridine organoaluminum complexes, [(BIP)AlR2]+, as stable BArF4– or PF6– salts, and their reversible single-electron reduction into well-defined paramagnetic species, [(BIP·)AlR2].
